Wattle & Co Review
On 29th October 2017 by AdminIf you’ve read this blog for a while you’ll know I love brunch and I’m never happier than with eggs and a side of avo. Although in the UK we ‘do’ brunch/cafe society well, I would generally say it has a completely different feel compared to somewhere like Australia. Well guys I’ve found a place which takes me back to Australia every time I step through the door.
Nestled in the town centre of Bishops Stortford in Hertfordshire is Wattle & Co. Owned by a couple who used to live in Perth and with a Kiwi head chef, I feel I probably don’t really need to go into too much more detail as you’ll already gather this place is awesome.
From the second you walk through the doors you really feel you could be in a cute little cafe back in somewhere like Cottesloe in Perth. Clean white walls, open kitchen, cakes on the front desk, the only thing it’s really missing is the sunshine and beach.
Wattle & Co serve breakfast and lunch as well as quite possibly the best coffee I’ve tasted since being back. Items on the menu include eggs and avo on toast, smoothies, bacon sandwiches, Wattle bowls and cakes include (but change daily) salted caramel Victoria sponge, Oven Destroyers (you’ll have to try one to understand) and of course Anzac biscuits.
You want to know what makes this place even better…it can cater for gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, vegan and vegetarian and it’s organic. The chef knows his stuff and always happy to answer questions on ingredients.
Yesterday I went for lunch. This place gets super busy so it’s the first time I’ve managed to get in for lunch whilst I was in the area. I had a Wattle bowl No.2 which consisted of chickpeas, sweet potato, beetroot, beetroot purée, rocket, avocado and I added halloumi. Mum, who was with me, had Wattle bowl No.1 which consisted of chilli broccoli, carrot, tomatoes and mint, red cabbage, quinoa and she also added halloumi.
The vibe of this place is super chill and everyone from every generation is there. The staff are really friendly. There’s table service and there’s always take away available.
Why not buy one of the Bamboo reusable coffee cups, £12.50 but with that you get 4 free coffees and then money off every drink after this and it’s helping the environment.
So if you’re ever in Hertfordshire and need somewhere to go for a great coffee and great food seriously get down here and try it. The only thing that would make this place absolutely 100% ‘unfaultable’ (new word) would be if they added Acai bowls to the menu – then I’d never leave.
