Finally Getting a Routine!
On 13th November 2016 by HelenThis week has been a bit different. Good news is I got my house at the beach and I am so excited. I move in in 2 weeks. Although it’s only a short 2 month let its perfect for me as it gives me freedom and means I am not tied down to one place for too long, especially if I don’t like the area once I am there. However with the beach at the end of the road, local shops and cricket ground right around the corner I think this summer will be awesome! I have booked my last 5 days in the hostel before I move and I am so happy to be having my own space. Also a lot of my friends have now found houses/rooms and have moved to different areas of the city so hostel life seems quieter as a lot of us have been here for a long time and to be honest apart from my room mates I have now reached a point of not being so bothered to repeat myself a million times about where I am from and what I am doing etc.
I have also started work this week as a receptionist in a spa. It’s pretty good job in a similar industry to what I worked in at home. The clinic is so beautiful all new and modern, painted with relaxing greys and whites. There’s loads of tranquil music everywhere and that lovely aromatherapy smell. So far it hasn’t been a challenge turning up each day, especially as within my first 3 days I have had a free 60 minute massage and facial to try the products! The only thing I have to get used to is the computer systems which seem to be interesting to say the least but I am sure that will all get sorted soon enough. It’s weird being the other side of things and booking people in for treatments rather than being the therapist carrying them out but I am enjoying for the time being have less pressure on me.
It’s really nice to have a routine again. Although I am off for 2-3 days a week I find I feel much better having set times to get up and out. My eating habits are starting to improve and as soon as I am settled into my room then I can’t wait to get back to proper exercise. Although in this city you can walk miles sometimes 14k a day easily it’s not the same as a HITT work out or weights. Gyms here are on weekly contracts so I need to make sure once I start getting paid I can factor that in but right where I will live there is the Bondi to Coogee walk and there are outdoor ‘gyms’/ exercise areas which I can use.
The weekends feel nice, again I have more routine and I returned to The Rocks market followed by Watson Bay then drinks at the Opera Bar with friends. I still find myself walking around this beautiful city and feel so lucky for the time being this is my home.
