Aussy Christmas Day
On 25th December 2016 by HelenWow what can I say? It’s been such a crazy, hectic and great Christmas Day!
Christmas started for me on Christmas Eve at Coogee Pavilion with my friends Emily and Lucy we had such a fun night and stayed until midnight to see in Christmas Day.
Christmas Day morning we got up and opened presents – again just like my birthday I was super lucky with what I received from home and friends.
After this we had our breakfast before we started cooking for everyone! We cooked for 18 people and it was insane. We had a Tudurken (turkey stuffed with a duck and chicken), chicken and ham, along with roasted potato, sweet potato, carrots, parsnips, stuffing, peas and gravy. For dessert we had 2 Pavlovas or mince pies with ice cream. It was such a feast and I am so happy everyone enjoyed their day.
The only thing is our kitchen is so small so we were cooking a lot in batches and we could have done with a bigger oven however Lucy and I managed, everyone was fed and there’s so much food left over. Mission accomplished!
Once dinner had finished everyone descended on the beach. I knew Coogee was the beach to go to because you can drink on it at Christmas Day but it was so crazy! You couldn’t see the grass areas and you could barely see sand. It was like the craziest festival ever. However we managed to find a tiny bit of sand to sit on and we sat there for a couple of hours just relaxing after so much cooking and entertaining.
I have to say having Christmas away from the UK is strange and I definitely miss my family, however having everyone around me who I have met on my travels made it so special and I have really made some great friends so far on my journey.
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!
