2018 Goals and Resolutions
On 7th January 2018 by Helen2017 was quite possibly my best year yet and I can’t quite believe what I achieved, saw and did in those 365 days. I started the year in Sydney in the Botanic Gardens watching the fireworks, spent the middle of the year in New Zealand and the last few months back at home in the UK. Time honestly flew by and I wish I could do it all over again. I know they say you ‘should never look back’ so I’m going to use all my feelings to drive me and motivate me in 2018!
2017 was a godsend, helping me develop confidence, tackle my anxiety head on, learn more about coeliac disease and live a much healthier life. I met people who changed my views on the world, who helped me change as a person and who I will be friends with for many years to come.
I managed to get pure perspective on life and what’s important to me; that travel fills me with pure joy and happiness and that working all the hours God sends isn’t healthy.
In terms of the New Year’s resolutions I made in 2017 did I keep them?
I think I am a far more positive person than I ever have been. I won’t lie and say being home from travelling has been easy; I’ve certainly had some down days, but overall I’m far more sociable, happier and have a much better work/life balance.
I can’t quite say I did something to push me outside of my comfort zone every month. However bungee jumping for me was the biggest and scariest thing I’ve put myself through, it challenged me more than anything else I’ve ever done. I’d certainly do it again.
Exercising and eating better have been achieved but only since being home. I’ve got myself back in the gym with PT once a week, my job’s fairly active and eating a more balanced diet has been far easier and more achievable than it ever was living in hostels.
So…New Year’s goals/resolutions for 2018 are:
To continue to work on positive thinking and positive actions.
To get in the gym three times a week – I am determined that I will make the gym three times a week either after work or on the weekend. I plan one cardio session, one weight session and one mixed cardio/weight session.
To (obviously) continue my blog and be more active on all social media, so come and find me on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook all under freshstarttraveller and Twitter @fstraveller
To travel – I cannot tell you how much I miss it. The freedom and the experiences. I want to travel as much as I can. This year I’d love to get back to New Zealand as there’s so much more to explore, and if I can possibly manage it Hawaii and LA (any millionaires who fancy marrying me let me know – hahaha)!
What are your New Year’s resolutions? I’d love to know.
I’ll leave you with some of my favourite photos of 2017. Thank you to everyone I met last year who made it so magical!!
